Main Purpose of the Job
To assist the kitchen manager with the preparation of food and meals, and to support with the hygiene and maintenance of the kitchen environment. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Preparation of meals and food under the direction of the Kitchen Manager.
* Assist with the laying up of tables and serving counters.
* Serve meals to pupils and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.
* Assist with the clearing, cleaning, and tidying of tables and serving counters.
* Prepare and wash salad ingredients and vegetables prior to food preparation.
* Clean and tidy the kitchen after meal service, ensuring that all dry goods and food stocks are safely and securely stored.
* Undertake deep cleaning tasks such as steam cleaning ovens and racks.
* Follow health & safety and food hygiene regulations at all times.
* Supervise pupils in the dining hall if required, encouraging good manners and safe behaviour.
* Work flexibly to provide cover as needed, sometimes at short notice.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Kitchen Manager or senior staff.
Additional Information (Bank Role)
* This is a casual, as-and-when required position to provide cover for staff absence or busy periods.
* Hours may vary according to school needs, and flexibility is essential.
* Full training will be provided where required (including food hygiene, safeguarding, and health & safety).
* All roles in school are subject to safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS check.
