About the role
BBC Gardeners' World is the UKs biggest and most trusted gardening brand. You will manage and lead a team selling across the BBC Gardeners' World Event portfolio, which includes our flagship event, BBC Gardeners' World Live now in its 35th year, and 2 new BBC Gardeners' World Fairs. Reporting into the Event Director you will be responsible for all revenue sales across your team as well as selling stand space, sponsorship packages and digital assets across the events, to both existing and new clients - from retailers to well-known household brands; and sponsors that are endemic and non-endemic to the brands.
Responsibilities
* Manage and lead the Sales Executive to drive revenue working to a team target. You will report into the Event Director but be in regular contact with the Sponsorship Manager to ensure you are aligned and reporting correct.
* Sell stand space, a proportion of sponsorship, and digital assets to new and existing business, demonstrating excellent phone and face to face skills, and delivering high quality written communication including complex proposals. You may be required to travel to meet with key clients.
* Identify opportunities to deliver sales results and grow the business through yield, average order values, volume, earlier sales, upsells, pricing structures and new revenue streams.
* Communicate and manage all sales KPI's with an outstanding knowledge of the pipeline and forecast sales. Forecast with accuracy for short and long-term periods and communicate this at all levels with clarity.
* Sourcing, selling, managing, and maintaining sponsorship customers, with assistance from Sponsorship Executive to deliver agreements. Understand client needs and match them to products or create new profitable opportunities.
* Report with attention to detail, provide a clear narrative and present commercially. Communicate all commercials with the Event Director and monitor forecasts against the budget. Raise concerns with proposed solutions when revenue issues arise.
* Be a role model and leader for the team; mentor, manage, and motivate to deliver results and support workload management.
* Collaborate on an exprom plan aligned with sales strategy. Work with marketing to brief impactful email campaigns, sales materials, and copy. Use marketing insights to inform activity and content strategy.
* Commercial management of show floorplans to maximise opportunities and deliver/exceed budgets (P&L with Portfolio Director and Event Director).
* Support exhibitor assets including event guides, web listings, and onsite floorplans. Ensure CRM usage (Salesforce) for all customer contact and financial reporting.
* Understand GDPR obligations and ensure compliant communication, data storage, and management for sales activities.
