Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems and equipment across our facilities. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise technical expertise in a fast-paced environment, ensuring operational efficiency and safety standards are upheld. The ideal applicant will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems.
* Diagnose faults and perform repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
* Assist with the installation, commissioning, and testing of new machinery and equipment.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and repairs carried out. Support the preparation of technical documentation and reports.
* Use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems, Auto- CAD and other process monitoring and improvement software.
* Collaborate with other engineering team members to optimise equipment and plant performance.
* Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for process enhancements.
* Support plant outages working with operations team, internal engineering team and sub -contractors.
* Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns or urgent maintenance requests.

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role within a process based industrial environment.
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical principles.
* Relevant technical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and schematics accurately.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Strong communication skills to work collaboratively within a team.
* Flexibility to work shifts as required; willingness to participate in ongoing training programmes.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £35,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
