Overview
Delivery consultant | Former Team GB Olympic Weightlifter | Defense and space specialist | Chase Global |
Are you a hands-on IT and networking pro who wants to get out from behind the desk? Do you thrive on a challenge and love working directly with people? We"re looking for a Field Systems Engineer to join our team on the front lines of cutting-edge defence projects.
This isn’t your average IT job. You’ll be the person making things happen, installing and configuring our software on hardware platforms, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. You’ll work directly with customers—from military personnel to senior decision-makers—to deliver training and support. One day you might be configuring a complex network in the office; the next, you’ll be on a military exercise, troubleshooting systems in the field.
Key Responsibilities
* System Deployment: Install, configure, and test our software on hardware platforms, including our proprietary Xcalibr system, both in-office and on-site.
* Network Management: Configure and troubleshoot IP networks, VPNs, and communication systems.
* Customer Engagement: Work directly with customers, from military personnel to senior decision-makers, to provide training and support.
* Internal Support: Contribute to our internal IT and network infrastructure and manage asset inventories.
Requirements
* Essential Skills: You’ll need excellent all-round IT and networking skills, including experience with DHCP, fixed IPs, remote access, VPNs, and MDM. The ability to independently diagnose and solve network issues is crucial.
* Personal Attributes: We’re looking for a proactive, thorough, and detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
* Specific Knowledge: Knowledge of A-TAK (Android Team Awareness Kit).
* Eligibility: You must be able to obtain security clearance and hold a full UK driving licence.
Desired (Bonus) Skills
* Experience with Python, JSON, SQL, or managing deployable networks (e.g., Unifi).
* Prior experience working in or with the defence sector.
* Experience with hardware configuration or training delivery.
