You’ll play a key role in shaping how millions discover stories that matter, bringing editorial judgement, creativity, and data insight to marquee events and everyday journeys alike.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
You’ll be part of a dynamic, 24/7 operation, based in Salford and Sydney, that curates one of the BBC’s most visible digital spaces. The Homepage showcases the BBC at its best and you will work with teams in every part of the BBC to help shape how millions experience it daily. As a Duty Editor, you’ll contribute to the team’s editorial strategy and culture, with opportunities to lead, grow and influence in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
* Lead, motivate, manage and support Homepage team members, ensuring the editorial vision and strategy are clearly communicated and understood.
* Manage production schedules and delivery plans for OKRs, campaigns and major events, ensuring timely and high-quality output.
* Develop and maintain positive working relationships across the team and wider BBC, offering constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative culture.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of the department’s editorial strategy and policy.
* Seek improvements in content production and workflow to drive efficiency and creative excellence.
* Ensure all content complies with BBC Editorial, Legal, and Health & Safety guidelines.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* Strong editorial judgement, with experience gained in an editorial environment.
* Proven ability to analyse editorial data and translate insights into clear, audience-focused actions.
* Experience of managing and motivating a team, with a track record of supporting performance and development.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
* A thorough understanding of BBC Editorial Guidelines and commitment to impartiality, accuracy and audience trust.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
* Familiarity with homepage or front-page publishing tools and workflows.
* Experience contributing to editorial strategy or shaping team culture.
* Knowledge of major BBC campaigns, events and audience touchpoints.
If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
