Role
As a Project Engineering Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will lead the multi‑disciplinary technical design and delivery of complex engineering projects across their full lifecycle, from concept through to in‑service support and disposal. This is a rare opportunity to combine hands‑on engineering expertise with people leadership. You will manage and develop a team of engineers, act as the technical authority for your projects, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
* Leading and managing the engineering function across allocated projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality
* Acting as the technical point of contact for internal teams, customers and suppliers
* Ensuring engineering compliance with legal, regulatory and safety requirements
* Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers to build capability and performance
* Identifying and managing technical risks, dependencies and design trade‑offs
The role is based onsite at Walsall, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.
Essential experience
* System‑level engineering experience with vehicle integration
* Defining requirements, specifications and system architecture
* Designing for manufacturability, cost, weight and reliability
* Understanding testing, validation and homologation processes
* Proven team and people management experience
Qualifications
* Problem‑solving and root cause analysis (8D, A3, Ishikawa, 5‑Why)
* Knowledge of automotive systems (powertrain, chassis, body, E/E, ADAS, thermal, or interiors)
* Knowledge of CAD/CAE tools and engineering documentation
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
