We are seeking a reliable and experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join our growing team.
You will be responsible for the routine maintenance, fault-finding, and minor repairs of fire detection and life safety systems following relevant British Standards and company procedures.
This role is field-based and requires excellent technical skills, a professional attitude, and a strong focus on customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of fire alarm systems to BS 5839-1 standards.
* Diagnose and repair system faults and provide detailed fault reports.
* Complete small works, such as device replacements, panel swaps, or wiring corrections.
* Maintain accurate records of all work completed and report any non-compliances.
* Respond to emergency call-outs as part of the on-call rota (as required).
* Work across a variety of environments, including commercial, residential, industrial, and public sector buildings.
* Advise clients on system condition, upgrade options, or required remedial works.
* Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
* Proven experience servicing fire alarm systems (minimum 3 years preferred).
* Strong knowledge of conventional and addressable systems (e.g., Ampac, Gent, Advanced, Morley, Notifier, Kentec).
* Working knowledge of BS 5839, BS 5266, and general fire industry standards.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Willingness to participate in an on-call rota (as required).
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable qualifications
* FIA Units 1–5 (Design, Installation, Maintenance, Commissioning, Advanced Detection)
* CSCS/ECS Card
* Electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 2365/2391 or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations)
* Experience in emergency lighting, extinguishers, or integrated life safety systems is a plus
* Knowledge of security or access control systems (desirable but not essential)
