About the role Were looking for a confident and collaborative Underwriter to join our Belfast team. Youll support the profitable growth of our SME portfolio by underwriting a range of commercial risks, working closely with brokers to deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to expand your underwriting expertise across multiple product lines while building strong broker relationships. What you will be doing Managing renewals, quotations, and ad hoc enquiries from aligned brokers. Underwriting SME commercial cases within agreed processes and authority levels. Identifying and escalating complex or non-standard risks appropriately. Supporting new business development and retention strategies. Producing accurate policy documentation in line with service standards. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of market trends, legislation, and underwriting practices. Who we are looking for Were looking for someone with solid commercial insurance experience and a proactive mindset. Youll be comfortable working independently and enjoy contributing to a supportive team environment. Youll need: Strong experience in commercial insurance (underwriting, broking or claims). Strong technical knowledge across a range of commercial insurance products. Excellent negotiation and trading skills. Ability to manage deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes. Strong relationship-building skills with brokers and internal teams. Attention to detail and confidence in preparing documentation. Proficiency in Excel and other IT platforms. Cert CII (or working towards) is desirable.
