To assist the Head of Institutional Banking, Head of Markets and Head of Treasury to drive forward the Financial Institution, Capital Markets, Treasury Businesses with a view to enhancing the profitability and liquidity of FirstBank UK in accordance with Business Development, Treasury and Markets budget projections, targets markets and First Bank’s global strategy.
Please note that this is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. There may also be a limited amount of travel overseas.
Key Responsibilities:
* To support Business Development, the head of Institutional Banking, Treasury &Markets with customer acquisition, growth and retention in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA).
* Manage overall relationships with trading counterparties (Bonds, FX & Repo) as assigned by the line Manager.
* Lead all counterparty On-boarding, Annual Reviews through KYC/KYB applications by closely working with the Business Risk Review and Business Risk Compliance Teams.
* Closely work with the trading desk’s sales function to ensure relationships are managed proactively and efficiently.
* Work with the relevant managers in creating quality risk assets in line with the Bank's Business Development strategy and Risk Appetite Statement.
* Monitor facilities, transactions, as well as forthcoming maturities for prompt payments and ensure the required zero tolerance on NPLs remains.
* Attract and grow in a sustainable manner, low-cost liabilities from existing and new account relationships to support Bank's funding plan across various tenors.
* In line with Bank’s strategy, penetrate new customer sectors/geographies with core focus on Capital Markets trading counterparties within the Institutional Banking & Corporate Banking portfolios.
* Work closely with Risk/Credit/Compliance and other key decision-makers in developing and maintaining all relationships and effective processes.
* Manage up or manage out accounts within the portfolio which are unprofitable or poor-quality accounts.
Key Skills/Experience:
* A degree or equivalent with a professional certification such as ACCA, ACA or CFA would be highly advantageous
* Experience in running your own portfolio
* Solid knowledge of Financial markets, Treasury and SSA financial institutions
* Team player attitude with a passion for improving and driving forwards relationships
