The Role
The Machine Build & Production Operative is responsible for the mechanical assembly of Purex's clean air extraction and filtration systems. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, assembling components to specification, and ensuring equipment is built to a high standard of safety, quality, and reliability.
The use of some technical machinery is also involved.
Key Duties
We're looking for someone who will:
* Assemble mechanical and electrical components to build complete filtration systems.
* Interpret and work from engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and schematics.
* Carry out fitting, drilling, wiring, and mechanical tasks as required.
* Ensure machines are built to company quality standards and production deadlines.
* Perform functional testing and pre-delivery inspections on completed units.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
* Liaise with the Production Supervisor and production teams to resolve build issues.
* Report material shortages, defects, or equipment issues to the Production Supervisor.
* Operate the production sealing robot.
Skills
Essential
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
* Strong practical skills including mechanical fitting and basic wiring.
* Good attention to detail, with a methodical and safety-conscious approach to work.
* Team player with strong communication skills.
* Familiar with computer operations.
Desirable
* Experience in production assembly (components), machine building or mechanical assembly, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
* Electrical or mechanical qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC).
* Experience working on ventilation, extraction, or similar equipment.
