Overview
The radiology department is a thriving, cohesive team looking to expand its Consultant Radiologist workforce. There is a vacancy for a Consultant Radiologist with sub speciality training in musculoskeletal (MSK) radiology. This post is to provide additional specialist MSK reporting and intervention, to support and develop the current imaging services within the Trust. The post holder will work closely with the existing radiologists but the post can be flexible to fit in with the applicant's interests. The post holder will be expected to contribute to all aspects of MSK diagnostic and interventions. This includes the reporting of cross sectional MSK CT and MRI, the performance and interpretation of diagnostic ultrasound, therapeutic musculoskeletal injections (ultrasound and fluoroscopy) and CT guided bone biopsies. Candidates would be expected to regularly support the rheumatology MDT and help support the Spinal Infection and Arthroplasty MDT. The post is based at York, with an expectation to cover sessions at Scarborough, (currently approximately one day per fortnight). The role includes a commitment to general reporting for acute and cold cases and participate in the on- call rota. Acute CT and MRI reporting is dealt with by a team based within a dedicated acute reporting hub. All Radiologists have a short weekly session as the duty radiologist.
Responsibilities
* Provide MSK reporting and intervention across cross sectional CT and MRI, ultrasound, and CT-guided procedures
* Perform and interpret diagnostic ultrasound; administer therapeutic musculoskeletal injections (ultrasound and fluoroscopy) and CT-guided bone biopsies
* Support the rheumatology MDT and the Spinal Infection and Arthroplasty MDT
* Cover sessions at York and Scarborough (approximately one day per fortnight) and contribute to general reporting for acute and cold cases
* Participate in the on-call rota; on-call frequency is currently 1 in 15 with specific hour designations (5-9pm weekdays and 9am-9pm weekends). Outsourcing covers on-call outside these hours
* Engage in teaching and training of radiology trainees; opportunities for undergraduate teaching via HYMS
* Collaborate with the departmental team to maintain high-quality reporting and specialist opinions
* Support site coverage at Scarborough as required (usually up to once per fortnight depending on specialty)

* Sub-speciality training in musculoskeletal radiology
* Experience in MSK diagnostic reporting and interventional procedures
