Role Responsibility
The Road Crossing Patrol will work 3.0 hours per week (Monday to Thursday afternoons only) for 38 weeks per year.
The successful applicant will be paid within the Kent Scheme Grade KSA, with a pro-rata salary of approximately £1,662 per year (around £12.71/hour).

As you will be working a short split shift throughout the day, it is recommended that you can travel to the site in a timely manner.
Kent County Council's School Crossing Patrol Service has a large team of dedicated community-minded individuals ensuring children's safety on their way to and from school.
We welcome community members who can demonstrate traffic awareness, responsibility, and dedication to making Kent's roads safer for children. The role involves working independently with minimal supervision for approximately 45 minutes in the afternoon, Monday to Thursday. The current shift timings are 14:50-15:35.
A uniform is provided for weather protection. Basic IT skills and a personal email address are required, along with completion of mandatory e-learning.
Job Purpose: To ensure the safe passage of school children and pedestrians at specific sites, in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1981.
Role Responsibilities:
* Safety: Operate the school crossing patrol point safely, identify hazards, and manage risks to children, carers, and drivers, maintaining awareness of traffic to stop vehicles safely when needed.
* Customers: Build appropriate relationships with children, control their movement at the crossing, and ensure their safety.
* Reliability: Maintain excellent timekeeping to ensure the crossing is always covered during scheduled times.
* Information: Report incidents to the Safer Active Journeys Team and keep accurate records of working hours and absences.
This position is based at Brenchley and Matfield Primary School and is available immediately.
KCC and the school are committed to safeguarding children and young persons. The role requires an enhanced DBS check.
