The Opportunity
The Cost Analyst role is part of the Dispenser Business Unit (DBU) and is based in Dundee. This is the main manufacturing operation in Europe for Dover Fueling Solutions and produces fuel dispensers. Reporting to the Financial Controller for Dundee, this is a key senior finance role within a dynamic, growing business requiring a high calibre individual.
This role is central to the finance structure and will be highly visible both within the Dundee operation and across the broader group.
The Candidate
The Cost Analyst position incorporates a blend of accounting, costing, business partnering, commercial insight and team leadership requiring a high calibre individual who is strong interpersonally, self-motivated, flexible and possesses excellent business acumen. Experience in the manufacturing industry is desirable, especially in relation to supply chain and logistics. Also important is that the role brings energy, drive, passion and a highly inquisitive nature.
The individual must be capable of producing insightful management information coupled with developing robust working relationships within the Dundee operation. In particular, it is essential that the individual can provide sound financial guidance to aid decision making and possess sufficient gravitas to challenge current thinking.
A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:
Graduate calibre with high academic achievement and relevant professional qualification
Previous experience within a manufacturing environment or related sector essential, either in current or in a previous role
Ideally prior experience of staff management and development
Strong proactive communicator with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
Well-developed commercial acumen
Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage time effectively
Strong team player with flexible attitude to work priorities
Brings enthusiasm and passion for business, underpinned by first class technical abilities
Job Description
The main function of the role is to support the Dundee operations and provide support to the finance team of all areas of cost.
The main duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Complete responsibility for the management and reporting of all aspects of cost for the facility
Preparation of monthly cost reports including commentary and performance analysis ensuring timely follow up and development of an action plan for any issues highlighted
Driving strong pro-active cost control and analysis – understanding product cost trends, driving the cost reduction program and controlling fixed costs
Leading the product cost tracking program ensuring timely reporting
Financial control of Inventory – trends and movements – drive inventory controls and best practice
Ownership of the Standard Cost setting process
Leading and participating in various factory wide NPD and Cost Reduction projects and initiatives
Input into the budget and business plan
Input into the preparation of financial forecasts
Development and enforcement of internal controls and corporate policies
Assist the Financial Controller on divisional finance projects
