Overview
We have exciting opportunities at Barking and Dagenham College. We are looking for a College Caretaker to join the Estates and Facilities team. This is a full-time, 38 hours per week, permanent role with a salary of £26,821 - £27,554 pa inc London Weighting.
The College Caretaker role is to maintain the cleanliness, security and safety of the premises, and the security and safety of college staff, students and visitors. You will assist in day-to-day operational activities of estates maintenance across all college sites and provide a customer-focused estates and facilities service that maintains a friendly, inviting and secure environment.
Responsibilities
* Undertake painting, decorating, plumbing and carpentry tasks as required.
* Log and report breakages or damage and carry out repairs and maintenance to a safe standard.
* Supervise contractors as necessary while they work on the main or satellite sites.
* Open and close premises and maintain the security of all buildings; issue and report losses of keys; act as part of the security team where required.
* Patrol premises and surrounding areas to maintain security; assist in identifying intruders and security problems.
* Carry out regular inspections of the premises and notify the Estates Helpdesk of deficiencies relating to the cleaning contractor’s performance.
* Carry out routine administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications and experience
* Educated to GCSE Grade C/5 or equivalent.
* Awareness of COSHH regulations.
* Full driving licence.
* Experience of building trades and practical experience across trades.
* Good organisational skills and ability to adapt to changing workload demands.
* Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and standards.
