A key element of the role will be to provide safeguarding support to all students in residential accommodation and work with students to mentor, self‑assess, agree targets and review progress. The Student Experience & Safeguarding Officer provides one‑to‑one and group guidance and mentoring, signposting students to internal services or external agencies, and helps create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment across the college group. The Student Experience Team at Cannington interviews and allocates residential places, and provides 24/7 support for residential students with issues ranging from accommodation queries to student wellbeing, entertainment and enrichment. The team’s primary responsibility is the safeguarding of residential students. The residential provision was inspected by Ofsted under the Further Education Residential Accommodation: National Minimum Standards in October 2022 and awarded Outstanding overall.
