Job Description

Role Overview
The Technical Recruiter is a specialist, delivery‑focused role responsible for sourcing, assessing and onboarding technicians and engineering personnel to support onshore operations and project delivery across Engineering Services in England.
It is a hands‑on technical recruitment role, focused on building and maintaining a strong pipeline of qualified technicians for onshore engineering roles, ensuring fast, compliant mobilisation, and reducing reliance on external agencies through effective direct sourcing.
Success in the role is measured by speed, quality, compliance, cost awareness and candidate experience, rather than sales or commission targets.

Core Objectives
* Deliver recruitment plans aligned to agreed hiring needs and role profiles, supporting timely fulfilment of onshore engineering demand
* Attract and secure high‑quality onshore engineering technicians through direct hiring channels, improving quality of hire and reducing agency reliance
* Ensure candidates are assessed consistently against technical, safety and compliance requirements, enabling confident hiring decisions
* Maintain a deployment‑ready pipeline for key technical disciplines to support BAU and project ramp‑ups with minimal lead time
* Achieve fast, compliant onboarding and mobilisation, ensuring technicians are site‑ready when required
* Support delivery by meeting agreed budgets, rate parameters and hiring timelines
* Build and maintain the organisation’s presence across technician talent markets (e.g. training providers, early‑career channels and events)

Key Responsibilities
* Deliver end‑to‑end recruitment for technicians and engineering roles (permanent and contract), aligned to BAU and project demand
* Source candidates via direct channels (e.g. LinkedIn, job boards, referrals and trade networks) and maintain an active talent pipeline for core disciplines
* Screen and shortlist candidates against technical, safety, compliance and project requirements
* Coordinate interviews and technical assessments with hiring managers through to offer decision
* Maintain a strong candidate experience and timely communication throughout the recruitment lifecycle
* Coordinate offers, contracts and start dates, liaising with Logistics, Engineering Services and People & Development to support mobilisation
* Manage pre‑employment screening and maintain compliant recruitment records (e.g. right‑to‑work, references, IR35 and GDPR)
* Support targeted recruitment campaigns for project ramps and peak delivery periods
* Support early‑career attraction and market engagement through relationships with training providers and attendance at careers events where required
* Provide insights on candidate availability, skills shortages and market trends to support workforce planning
* Recruit within agreed budgets and role rate parameters, supporting agency avoidance where possible
* Track and report recruitment activity and pipeline metrics (e.g. time‑to‑hire and candidate flow) and contribute to salary/rate benchmarking as required
* Partner with Engineering Services, Project Teams, Logistics and People & Development to plan hiring, prioritise roles and support mobilisation

Skills, Experience & Attributes
Key Skills & Attributes

* Practical, solutions‑focused approach to recruitment challenges
* Strong administration, planning and follow‑up capability
* Commitment to continuous learning and development

Essential
* Proven experience in technical, engineering or operational recruitment
* Hands‑on sourcing experience (direct hire, not agency‑only)
* Strong knowledge of right‑to‑work, GDPR and recruitment compliance
* Experience recruiting technicians, trades or operational engineers
* Ability to manage multiple roles and pipelines simultaneously
* Proficient in Microsoft Office

Desirable
* Background in engineering services, oil & gas, offshore, infrastructure or construction
