Position: Data Protection Manager
Role type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary guide: £45,000 – £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Hertfordshire (predominantly remote, ideally one day a week in the office)
We are supporting a highly regarded and forward thinking organisation with a new hire for a Data Protection Manager. Reporting to the Head of Privacy, you will play a key role in promoting a strong culture of privacy and risk awareness, leading on day-to-day operational compliance across a multi-entity group structure. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape and develop privacy practices across the business, working collaboratively with teams and stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and respond to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) in a timely and compliant manner
* Conduct and coordinate Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
* Maintain and improve the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA)
* Review contracts and data sharing agreements for data protection compliance
* Support the investigation and resolution of data breaches
* Deliver engaging training sessions and support wider awareness campaigns
* Monitor and report on data protection performance to senior stakeholders
* Provide guidance and mentorship to junior privacy staff
About You:
* Solid working knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
* Experience managing DSARs, DPIAs, and ROPA
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Organised, detail-oriented, and confident managing multiple priorities
Desirable:
* Professional certification (e.g., CIPP/E, BCS) or working towards one
* Experience delivering training or using data protection software/tools
* Understanding of cybersecurity principles as they relate to privacy
* Law degree would be advantageous
