As a Health & Safety Officer across our Sunderland sites, you will combine operational safety responsibilities with advisory support to ensure site-wide compliance with legal and GMP requirements.
Responsibilities include, but would not be limited to:
* Assisting in developing, implementing, and reviewing site health & safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments aligned to facilities and projects.
* Conducting regular site inspections and investigations of incidents or near misses.
* Maintaining and monitoring COSHH assessments to ensure safe handling, storage, and use of hazardous substances.
* Managing and coordinating practical safety activities such as mask fit testing, fire alarm & emergency lighting tests, and legionella monitoring.
* Assisting with permit to work systems, contractor safety controls, and associated documentation.
* Producing and maintaining clear and accurate health & safety reports, statistics, and performance indicators.
* Delivering health & safety inductions and training sessions for employees and contractors.
* Carrying out safety equipment checks to ensure operational readiness.
* Supporting emergency response planning and site preparedness activities.
To be successful in this role, it is essential you have:
* NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
* Proven experience in a health & safety role, preferably within manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or regulated environments.
* Strong knowledge and practical experience with COSHH and UK health & safety legislation.
* Ability to produce clear, actionable safety reports and communicate these effectively.
* Full UK driving licence to travel between sites (3 mile distance)
Experience or understanding of GMP requirements and controlled drug safety would also be of benefit.
