Job Title: Quality Welding Inspector - Low Side
Shift: 2nd Shift
Job Summary
Quality Welding Inspector - Low Side is responsible for the following:
* Inspecting product processes and workmanship: Inspecting product processes at various stages of production to ensure they meet quality standards. This includes examining products for defects or deviations from specifications, processes and using tools like calipers, gauges, or micrometers to measure products.
* Perform the final inspection as well as routine inspections on all sections before units are released for shipment. This includes:
o Ensuring that the certified print and production order agree.
o Sections are assembled properly according to Engineering specifications.
o All standard parts in place or with sections.
o All special parts are correct and with section.
o Report all rework requested to the appropriate supervisor.
* Testing linear tools: Inspecting, logging, testing components, and equipment used by EVAPCO mechanics and welders.
* Monitoring operations: Monitoring operations to ensure they meet production standards. This may include reading production prints, EVAPCO controlled documents, specifications, and tolerances.
* Accepting or rejecting product processes and workmanship: Accepting or rejecting finished product items, production processes, workmanship, and reporting products and workmanship that don't meet production and quality standards.
* Reporting results: Reporting inspection results with the production and quality team to contribute to continuous improvement of EVAPCO Madera.
* Cross train with other inspectors at Evapco West.
* Welding experience is preferred.
* Other duties designated by QAM or directives or projects from our CQM.

* Knowledge, Skills, & Experience. (Required)
* Have an understanding of B31.5 fundamentals. (Preferred)
* Have an understanding of B31.5 & CRN requirements. (Preferred)
* Understand basic construction practices of eco-air units.
* Experience with troubleshooting fabrication components.
* Understanding and proper use of tape measure within 1/32”.
* Must be able to use overhead crane.
* Must have a valid driver’s license. (Required)
* Basic shop math (i.e. add/subtract/divide/multiply, whole numbers and fractions). (Required)
* Must be able to read Production Orders & understand shop drawings. (Required)
* Familiar with common hand and power tools.
* High School diploma or GED equivalent. (Required)
Essential Functions
* Perform visual in-process and final examination in accordance with B31.5 code, including joint preparation, fit-up, alignment, and appearance of finished joints and welds.
* Perform routine and final inspections/reports on all sections before units are released for assembly, including ensuring that the certified print and production order agree and the section is assembled accordingly, all sections are assembled properly according to engineering specifications, and report and finalize all rework requested to the appropriate supervisor.
* Handle the return of damaged units or sections by generating a written report, taking pictures if required, and turn over to the appropriate Leader and Superintendent.
* Handle the return and analysis of damaged/failed parts and coordinate the return with Purchasing.
* Assume all responsibilities associated with certified units (B31.5 Code/CRN, etc.) including Witnessing/signing off procedures requiring QC Holds, insuring all required paperwork is completed by the appropriate personnel at the time it is being performed and filing and storing paperwork properly.
* Must meet all quality and quantity standards of the job.
* Assist with the training of new and current welders.
* Participate in team and shop business problem‑solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements.
* Meet or exceed annual safety, quality, 5‑S, and productivity targets.
* Attend training courses as directed by management.
* May perform other duties as assigned.
* Must know how to read and understand circuit drawings, certified prints, engineering drawings, production orders, and shop drawings. Additional assignments and responsibilities are determined by the quality manager.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Shop/Field Environment:
* Temperature extremes, in general, range from 20° F. to 110° F.
* Requires very good agility (i.e., bending, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, squatting, twisting, and lifting).
* Working at high elevations (i.e., tops of tall buildings or platforms).
Equipment Used:
* Various hand tools as required. At times the use of heavy equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
