LeedsTeaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an exceptional individual to join ourEstates & Facilities Division as a Waste Assurance Officer. This role isintegral to maintaining and enhancing the Trusts high standards of wastemanagement across its entire estate.

Thepost holder will audit and monitor the operation of the Trust-wide Waste Management Strategy in line with current legislative requirements and bestpractice guidance. Working closely with the Waste Compliance Officer, youwill support the design, implementation, management and review of the TrustsWaste Management System to ensure full statutory compliance across allrelevant dimensions, including policy, risk assessment, standard operatingprocedures (SOPs), training, auditing and continuous improvement.

* Acompetitive salary pro rata Band 3 £24,937 to £26,59
* Annualleave starting at 27 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays rising to 33days with service.

Themain duties of the Waste Assurance Officer include:

Auditing and monitoring theoperation of the Trust-wide Waste Management Strategy in line with currentlegislative requirements.

Undertaking regular planned andunannounced audits across all Trust sites for both clinical and non-clinicalwaste streams, ensuring timely feedback is provided to audited areas.

Assisting in the monitoring of thequantities and types of waste produced across Trust areas and supporting thedevelopment of comparative league tables.

Supporting the effective operationof waste records management systems, ensuring they are robust, accurate andauditable by external agencies when required.

Providing waste compliance adviceto Estates, Facilities, Infection Control, Medical and Nursing staff withinthe scope of the post holders expertise.

Assisting in the production ofmonthly waste management data, using a range of IT applications to generatereports that inform KPI and performance reporting.

Contributing to the development,implementation, auditing and ongoing monitoring of the Trusts WasteManagement and Handling Strategy, ensuring compliance with currentlegislation and best practice.

LeedsTeaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an exceptional individual to join theEstates & Facilities Division as a Waste Assurance Officer. This roleplays a vital part in maintaining and enhancing the Trusts high standards ofwaste management across a large and complex estate. The post holder willsupport compliance, sustainability, and environmental performance, ensuringwaste management practices meet statutory requirements and best practicestandards.

Workingclosely with the Waste Compliance Officer, the Waste Assurance Officer willaudit, monitor, and support the operation of the Trust-wide Waste ManagementStrategy, contributing to continuous improvement and environmentalstewardship across the Trust.


KeyResponsibilities

TheWaste Assurance Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

Auditand monitor the operation of the Trust-wide Waste Management Strategy in linewith current legislative requirements and best practice guidance.

Undertakeregular planned and unannounced audits across all Trust sites, covering bothclinical and non-clinical waste streams, and provide timely, clear feedbackto audited areas.

Supportthe monitoring of the quantities and types of waste produced across Trustareas, including the development of comparative league tables to informperformance improvement.

WorkingRelationships

Worksclosely with the Waste Compliance Officer and Estates & Facilitiescolleagues.

Engageswith clinical and non-clinical staff across the Trust to promote compliance,understanding, and continuous improvement in waste management practices.

Liaiseswith external auditors and regulatory bodies as required.

Skills and Behaviours

* Strive to ensure that all estates & facilities in waste services and external contracts meet the requirements of HTM07-01.
* The post holder will develop new ways to collect information for the Waste Compliance Team for use by the Estates & Facilities Division.
* Contribute to the objectives of the Waste Compliance Team which will ensure ideas, success stories and opportunities for improvement are fully utilised.
* Work closely with the Waste Compliance Officer to promote a co-ordinated approach to the improvement delivery of performance and monitoring activity within Waste Management department.
* Professional attitude to work and commitment to delivering quality services
* Polite and helpful customer service skills
* Ability to prioritize and organise workload and work effectively as part of a small team
* To be of smart appearance


Experience

* NHS Trust protocols/policies and procedures including Infection Control & Health and Safety.
* Well-developed knowledge and experience of using a variety of IT Applications.(Microsoft office and Excel)
* Appreciation of clinical/operational areas that the service interacts with.
* Understand the aims and application of local and national standards relating to Estates & Facilities Services.


Other Criteria

* Design spread sheets and Customer Satisfaction Surveys and analyse as required.

Qualifications

* BTEC level 3 or equivalent in catering or allied service or significant experience of Quality Assurance in service-related area.
* Risk Assessment and COSHH Courses
