About the unit
Cabrini’s Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed, level 3 unit providing care for more than 1600 patients a year. We are affiliated with Monash University and accredited with the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM). The unit offers a full range of intensive care services catering for in-patients, emergency admissions, and transfers from other facilities.
Our case-mix includes cardiac and advanced thoracic surgery, complex upper GI and colorectal surgery, emergency, and acute medical, and other complex surgical specialities.

The role
An exciting and key nursing leadership position has become available for a dynamic, highly motivated, and suitably qualified registered nurse to lead the Intensive Care Unit team at Cabrini Malvern.
This position will suit a dynamic nurse leader looking for an opportunity to build on current management experience. The successful candidate will be innovative and visionary with a focus on building a cohesive, patient-centred team.
The Nurse Manager’s focus will be to foster a strong safety culture that is supportive of the nursing workforce to optimise patient safety and ensure the delivery of an exceptional experience for staff, patients, and their families.
Key selection criteria includes
7. Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
8. Extensive experience as a Critical Care Registered Nurse
9. Post Graduate Critical Care qualifications
10. A Working with Children Check
11. Previous nursing management experience (ANUM level or above)
You will also have
12. Evidence of strong leadership skills
13. Good understanding of workforce planning
14. Proven ability to manage budgets and operational KPIs
15. Demonstrated experience in building cohesive highly functioning teams
16. Highly developed communication and organisational skills
17. Experience in quality improvement activities that have led to improved patient care outcomes and patient experience
18. Understanding and experience of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
19. Ability to lead and work as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team
20. Ability to work within Cabrini’s Mission and Values
21. Solid understanding of the Cabrini Strategic Plan and the Cabrini Patient Experience Strategy
