Transport Supervisor - Night Shifts

Pay Rate: £30,350pa

We're looking for full-time, Transport Supervisor to join us at our site in Widnes - this role is temp to perm for the ideal candidate.
Working on a 4 on 4 off Night shift, you'll be responsible for supporting the Transport Manager in the overall running of a safe, efficient, and cost-effective transport operation.
What you'll do on a typical day:
1. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will ensure full adherence to all policies, procedures, and operational standards.
2. Complied with HR protocols, including disciplinary procedures, absence management, return-to-work processes, and the Code of Business Ethics.
3. Built and maintained effective working relationships across all departments within the company
4. Utilised company systems to complete all depot and contract administration tasks in accordance with site and corporate requirements.
5. Generated and submitted reports as required, covering Finance, KPIs, Claims, and Health & Safety metrics.
6. Monitored and managed resource levels to meet both customer expectations and operational demands.
7. Liaised with external haulage providers and recruitment agencies to support operational needs.
8. Supported delivery planning and data entry, ensuring all customer delivery documentation was accurate and complete.
9. Maintained proactive communication with the customer, resolving queries efficiently and professionally.
10. Took ownership of shift operations, addressing and resolving any operational issues as they arose.
11. Collaborated with the Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) and third-party vendors to ensure full fleet compliance and regular servicing.
12. Ensured vehicles were removed from service as required for maintenance or Vehicle Off Road (VOR) status.
13. Investigated vehicle incidents and escalated findings to senior management in line with company policy.
14. Carry out driver brief and de-brief as well as data entry of statistics as required.
What you need to succeed at XPO:
15. It's important you have a proven track record as a Transport Supervisor or Transport Manager within a fast-paced distribution role.
16. At least 2 years' experience of progressively more responsible jobs within Operations or Planning
17. Proven experience within transport sector (ideally dealing with HGV's)
18. A good understanding of compliance and driver hours
19. Must have experience with Tachomaster, Microlise and other R2C systems.
20. Transport management CPC would be beneficial but not essential.
21. Computer literate as well as excellent attention to detail
22. The ability to lead, motivate and inspire your team with a real drive for optimisation and continuous improvement
