Teaching Assistant (SEN / SEMH Support) – Secondary & Alternative Provision

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Secondary School or Alternative Provision setting in Hull, providing essential support for young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Role of a Teaching Assistant:
* Supporting students across Key Stage 3 and 4, including pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH challenges, and complex learning difficulties.
* Working 1:1 or in small groups to support access to learning, promote positive behaviour, and encourage independence.
* Assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning plans and interventions.
* Adapting communication methods to meet the individual needs of students, including non-verbal learners.
* Supporting integration of new students and helping them engage fully in the school or provision.
Key Information about Teaching Assistant Role:
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30 (Term Time Only)
* Location: Hull – Secondary Schools and Alternative Provisions
* Contract: Full Academic Year
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable).
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or complex needs, either in a school or care setting.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices; successful candidates must pass all required background checks, including an enhanced DBS.
