About our Department
The Department of Business Management Pathways within the School of Business Management and Creativity offers programmes that allow students to specialise in areas such as Marketing, HRM, Accounting and Finance, or combine Business with subjects like Law and Computing. The Department also teaches and manages business and management apprenticeship programmes.
About the Opportunity
You will provide academic leadership within the department, ensuring outstanding quality in Student Experience and Student Outcomes. Responsibilities include supporting teaching, assessment, and student progression, managing senior lecturers, recruiting academic staff, and potentially undertaking teaching duties where relevant.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide strategic and academic leadership to shape the vision, growth, and excellence of our courses.
2. Oversee curriculum innovation, ensuring relevance to global business challenges and emerging technologies.
3. Lead, mentor, and develop academic staff to foster a culture of excellence, collaboration and research‑informed teaching.
4. Strengthen partnerships with industry and professional bodies to ensure programmes deliver real‑world impact.
5. Drive innovation in delivery modes, including blended and digital learning.
About You
We seek a collaborative, inspiring, student‑centred leader with significant experience in Business Management education. The ideal candidate has:
6. A strong record of teaching, programme development and leadership within Business education, including apprenticeship delivery.
7. A forward‑looking mindset with understanding of digital innovation and AI opportunities.
8. Excellent communication, collaboration, and people management skills.
9. The vision and energy to shape the next generation of transformative leaders.
Essential Skills & Experience
10. Masters (or equivalent)
11. HE teaching qualification and/or Fellowship (e.g., PG Cert HE, SFHEA, PFHEA, QTLS/QTS).
12. Proven leadership, people management, and team‑building skills.
13. Successful track record leading academic programmes, achieving high levels of Student Experience, Outcomes and Satisfaction (TEF metrics).
14. Demonstrated ability to develop innovative teaching, research, and industry‑focused environments.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
15. PhD or equivalent Level 7 qualification.
16. Management training or qualifications showcasing leadership capabilities.
