Job Purpose
To undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline of Digital Humanities within Information Studies, contribute to learning and teaching on agreed programmes and undertake administration and service activities in line with the School/College’s strategic objectives.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
* Develop and progress individual/joint research projects of international standard in the subject area.
* Write up research findings for publication in leading journals and identifying potential sources and contributing to funding applications.
* Contribute to the planning, organisation and delivery of teaching on undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses within the subject area.
* Develop on-going supervision of postgraduate research students and undergraduate project supervision.
* Take on administrative or management roles within the subject/School as assigned by the Head of School.
* Engage in continuing professional development activities and undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
* A1 PhD or equivalent and professional experience in a similar role.
* A2 Sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge in the specialist subject and teaching methods.
* A3 Up‑to‑date knowledge and specialist understanding in the field.
* A4 Membership of relevant professional bodies where appropriate.
* Essential Skills C1 Ability to communicate specialist material effectively in writing and orally.
* Essential Skills C2 Proven track record of research outputs compatible with enhancing the school’s research profile.
* Essential Skills C3 Ability to apply policy and procedures within the university context.
* Essential Skills C4 Proven commitment to supporting the career development of colleagues.
* Experience Essential E1 Experience of planning and progressing work activities within professional guidelines.
* Experience Essential E2 Demonstrated commitment to open research and open data practices.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7/8, £41,064 - £46,049 / £50,253 - £58,225 per annum. These posts are full time (35 hours per week) and open ended with an anticipated start date of 5th January 2026 for Grade 8, and 1st September 2026 for Grade 7.
