Post Title: Local Nature Partnership Coordinator; fixed term until 30 March 2023 Department / Service: Environment, Roads & Facilities, Open Spaces Hours: 1 x 37 hours per week 1 x 20 hours per week Level: G06 Location: Home Based Job Evaluation Number: SL2343 Responsible to: Ecologist Responsible For: (Staff) none Job Purpose: To fulfil the Borough Council’s commitment to the Local Places for Nature Project through coordinating the creation and enhancement of natural capital and engaging communities, businesses, public bodies and others in local activity that can promote nature recovery, wellbeing, green infrastructure and carbon reduction. Duties and Responsibilities - Job Specific To be an active partner in Bionet, the north east Wales Local Nature Partnership (LNP) contributing to the creation and implementation of the NE Wales Nature Recovery Action Plan with broad cross-sector support, underpinned by national Nature Recovery Action Plan objectives. This work will be delivered jointly with colleagues from other council areas, the Bionet coordinator and NGO partners. To facilitate and support communities, businesses and public bodies to undertake targeted habitat and species enhancement projects (such as restoring degraded habitats and habitat creation). Primarily those allocated funding by the Local Places for Nature WG Fund. To help raise environmental awareness within the County Borough through co-ordinating the efforts of biodiversity volunteers; close working with local partner organisations and acting as a source of contacts, ideas and best practice for nature-related activity. To contribute towards the integration of Local Places for Nature aims within other key networks, projects and plans (such as Area Statements, Public Services Boards, Green Infrastructure Projects, pollinator projects, Well-being Plans) and, where possible, to identify and facilitate opportunities for projects to safeguard habitats and species, whether or not this is their primary driver. To work alongside countryside wardens and others to help implement and manage practical conservation schemes within the County Borough. To assist in supporting implementation of the Section 6 – Biodiversity and resilience of ecosystems duty plan. To be responsible for project budgets, compliance and reporting requirements of the Local Places for Nature capital and revenue grant allocations and ensure that accurate and complete claims and reports are submitted to deadlines. To participate in LNP Cymru meetings and training sessions and to be the LNP Coordinator representative at Advisory Group or Operational Group meetings as required. To provide case studies and other content for Local Places for Nature reports, publications and evaluations and to communicate and promote Local Places for Nature and wider nature recovery action across Conwy through Bionet and Conwy County Borough Council media channels.
