Business Intelligence and Data Manager

Responsible to: Group Marketing, Technology and Innovation Director Department: IT Job Level: 3 Location: Skelmersdale & Wilmslow
Purpose of role: To lead the organisation's business intelligence and reporting functions, delivering a single source of truth by integrating and managing data
across traditional IT systems, ERP platforms, and emerging digital sources. This role ensures the delivery of accurate, consistent, and actionable insights through
robust BI solutions, enabling data-driven decision-making while maintaining rigorous data governance and compliance.
Key responsibilities:
Develop a comprehensive business intelligence strategy by integrating data from IT systems, ERP platforms, and digital sources to enable data-driven
decision-making aligned with the organisation's digital transformation.
Enhance strategic and operational decision-making by designing and implementing robust BI and reporting tools that provide actionable insights.
Improve data quality and security under strict governance frameworks by managing the consolidation of data from traditional IT systems and digital platforms
into a unified source of truth.
Establish and maintain a rigorous data governance framework to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance, particularly aligning with regulations like
GDPR.
Lead the build, management and optimisation of data warehouses and BI platforms, including the integration of IoT and digital data to support efficient and real-
time analytics.
Document and align reporting and analytics requirements with business objectives in collaboration with IT and business units, facilitating the implementation of
advanced analytics and AI.
Drive enhanced customer insights and improve digital sales performance by partnering with digital marketing and e-commerce teams to harness data from new
digital sources.
Promote continuous improvement and innovation in data management and analytics by providing leadership to data teams.
Boost efficiency and enhance user experience, especially for new digital platforms, by overseeing BI systems and tools and implementing necessary
enhancements.
Ensure consistent data usage across the organisation and promote knowledge sharing by creating and maintaining a data dictionary and related
documentation to enable reliance on data management.
Uphold rigorous governance of data integration and management practices by ensuring compliance with data-related standards.
Lead the adoption of cutting-edge BI technologies and methodologies and spearhead predictive analytics and AI to optimise business processes.

Essential
Proven experience delivering business intelligence
solutions and managing data governance
frameworks.
Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, computer
science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Strong expertise in data integration, reporting tools,
and DWH/BI platforms, including SQL and Power
BI.
Demonstrated ability to ensure data accuracy,
consistency, and security.
Experience managing large-scale reporting projects
aligned with organisational goals.
Deep knowledge of data compliance requirements
like GDPR.
Desirable
Experience in industrial distribution or engineering
sectors.
Background in digital-first organisations.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with a
track record of effective team and senior
management collaboration.
Experience integrating IoT solutions into IT
infrastructure.
Familiarity with Anaplan and cloud-based BI
solutions.
Industry-recognised certifications in project
management, cybersecurity, and cloud services.
Skill in Python and scalable implementations.
Practical experience with AI and ML to optimise
business processes and decision-making.
Expertise in data management, analytics, and
visualisation tools to drive data-driven decision-
making.
Proficiency in using advanced data technologies for
predictive maintenance and innovation.
Experience in agency-side development of software
services.
