Sonographer

The post holder will work at an enhanced level of practice utilising highly developed post graduate ultrasound experience, knowledge, and skills in sonographic imaging and diagnostic reporting. The post holder will assist in the day‑to‑day operational management of the sonography team and department, providing effective leadership.
Main duties of the job
* Provide an effective and efficient ultrasound service as part of the ultrasound team.
* Carry out a wide range of complex clinical duties, acting on own initiative and employing professional, analytical and reasoning skills.
* Perform autonomous general scans, report examinations without routine input, and decide on follow‑up scans or referrals based on findings.
* Communicate highly sensitive information to patients and clinicians.
* Travel across sites to cover lists and provide managerial support.

Person Specification
Knowledge, skills and experience
* Evidence of wide range of general medical scanning; ability to demonstrate existing ultrasound skills (e.g., abdominal, gynae, small parts, neck, MSK).
* Evidence of active and continued professional development.
* Excellent sonographic skills.
* Able to demonstrate existing ultrasound knowledge.
* Previous senior experience.
Qualifications and training
* Post graduate UK accredited qualification in General Medical Ultrasound from a UK university or comparable qualification.
* Minimum of 2 years of up‑to‑date and recent general medical ultrasound experience.
* HCPC registration.
* MSc in Medical Ultrasound.
* State registration.
