Financial Accountant

A fast-growing, private-equity-backed healthcare group is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its expanding finance function. Operating across more than 200 UK sites, the business is in an exciting phase of strategic growth and acquisition activity. With a recently appointed CFO evaluating the future structure of the team, this role provides crucial support during a period of transformation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys variety, pace, and exposure to senior stakeholders.
The Role
As Financial Accountant, you will play a key role across financial reporting, compliance, cashflow, and acquisition accounting. You will work closely with the CFO and wider finance team to strengthen processes, improve governance, and support the group’s ongoing growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesCashflow & Treasury
* Lead and enhance the daily and 13-week cashflow forecasts.
* Support the CFO in preparing annual and three-year cashflow models.
Compliance & Covenants
* Manage all monthly and annual compliance certificates.
* Calculate and track bank covenant positions.
Tax & VAT
* Support in reviewing tax returns across multiple small legal entities.
* Review and ensure accuracy of monthly VAT submissions.
Legal Entity Management
* Assist with projects to strike off dormant legal entities, including close-down accounts and associated filings.
Acquisition Accounting
* Complete balance sheet reconciliations relating to acquisitions.
* Calculate and ensure accurate payment of deferred consideration.
* Partner with acquisition and integration teams to provide financial insight.
* Liaise with external advisors (including Big Four) on audit and acquisition-related work.
About You
Essential
* Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
* Strong technical financial accounting experience.
* Confident with cashflow forecasting and covenant reporting.
* Good understanding of VAT, tax, and multi-entity environments.
* Advanced Excel; strong analytical capability.
Desirable
* Experience in PE-backed or buy-and-build environments.
* Exposure to acquisition accounting.
* Experience working with external auditors.
