What you’ll be doing:
Data Management & Integration
This is a data-heavy role with real depth and variety. You'll:
* Design and maintain robust data integrations between systems and services
* Monitor data pipelines to ensure integrity, accuracy, and resilience
* Develop and optimise internal database infrastructure
* Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues
* Produce clear documentation and diagrams that map the data architecture
SQL & Automation
You’ll be the go-to expert on all things SQL, and you’ll also use tools like PowerShell and Node-RED to enhance and automate processes. Expect to work with:
* Microsoft SQL Server (2017 onwards)
* T-SQL scripting and database optimisation
* Data transformation best practices and tooling
* Integration of internally and externally hosted applications
Broader IT Involvement (with a data-first lens)
While your main focus is data, you’ll also support and contribute to broader IT operations. You’ll collaborate with the wider tech team on:
* Cloud-based services and virtualised environments
* Security and compliance around data handling and access
* Disaster recovery planning and data backup strategies
* Strategic planning for future data and IT improvements
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience managing and developing databases in a live environment
* Deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and scripting languages (T-SQL)
* Practical experience with data integration platforms
* Familiarity with technologies like Windows Server, VMware, SAN/NAS storage, and backup solutions
* Full right to work in the UK without any restrictions
* Be within a 45 minute commute of Cambridge and happy working onsite 5 days a week
