Job Title: Engineers – Mechanical & Electrical
Location: Preston, Lancashire, UK
Salary: Circa £42,000 (+) pa starting salary, with shift premiums.
Job Type: Full time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: 24/7 shift‑based role working 12‑hour day and night shifts. The final shift arrangement (options such as 4‑on/4‑off and the Panama (2‑2‑3) rota) will be confirmed before your start date.
Sponsorship: Sponsorship will only be considered for candidates who already have a valid VISA and who are currently working in the UK.
About the role
We are looking to recruit several electrical and mechanical engineers to facilitate a move to a rotating shift pattern during the summer. Successful applicants will work closely with the manufacturing team to maintain and service all processing machinery, ensuring that machinery downtime is minimised and all preventative maintenance is carried out to avoid production disruption.
Candidate will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team across both day and night shifts. Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a proactive approach are essential to meet the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete repairs and breakdowns in a timely manner and perform Root Cause Analyses (RCA) to ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed.
* Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping.
* Comply with all company Health & Safety rules and be able to escalations any failures.
* Work closely with the Engineering Manager and the Manufacturing Managers.
* Be part of an Engineering team dedicated to providing a world‑class service.
* Communicate effectively and take the initiative to lead when required.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices.
* Comply with all existing Safe Working Procedures (SWPs) and contribute to their improvement.
* In the future, support and mentor Electrical Apprentices on site.
Essential Requirements
* Fluent in English (verbal and written).
* Excellent I.T skills.
* Relevant degree and a strong practical working knowledge.
* Minimum 3 years’ post‑qualification experience in a fast‑paced factory/manufacturing environment.
* Good experience and a methodical approach to fault finding.
* Conversant with UK Health & Safety rules, regulations and best practices.
* Ability to prioritise workload and concisely record information.
* Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
