Resettlement Worker
Location: Torquay
Pay: £14.82 per hour
Contract: FTC until March 2026
Are you passionate about making a real difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage? We're looking for a compassionate, proactive Resettlement Worker to join a dedicated community safety and vulnerability team supporting some of the most vulnerable individuals in our area.
About the Role
As a Resettlement Worker, you'll play a key role in helping people with complex needs move away from rough sleeping, access suitable accommodation, and build the support networks they need to live independently and safely.
You'll work closely with local housing, health, and community partners to deliver coordinated interventions that reduce homelessness, improve wellbeing, and promote safeguarding. This is a varied, hands on role involving outreach, tenancy support, and case management - no two days will be the same.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage with rough sleepers and individuals at risk of homelessness, building trust and developing personalised support plans.
* Support clients to access housing, benefits, and essential services.
* Work closely with partner agencies including housing providers, health services, and the voluntary sector to coordinate wraparound support.
* Provide advocacy and practical help to clients attending appointments and accessing entitlements.
* Assist with the delivery of the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP).
* Promote safeguarding and ensure client and community safety are prioritised at all times.
* Maintain accurate case records and contribute to monitoring outcomes and service improvements.
About You
You'll be an empathetic, resilient individual who can build positive relationships with people facing multiple and complex challenges. You'll be comfortable working both independently and as part of a multi-agency team, often in community or street-based settings.
You should have:
* Experience working with vulnerable individuals (e.g. homelessness, substance misuse, mental health, offending, or similar fields).
* A good understanding of the causes of homelessness and the support systems available.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment, and partnership working.
* Strong communication, organisation, and record keeping skills.
* A flexible approach - including occasional evening or weekend work.
* Access to a vehicle for work related travel is essential
