Overview: Join an large Defence organisation in a pivotal role as Autonomous Submarines Platform Authority. You will act as the Platform Authority for the CETUS Extra Large Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (XLAUV) demonstrator, as well as Equipment Authority for the SCYLLA Torpedo Tube Launch and Recovery (TTLR) systems and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). Project SCYLLA involves developing submarine TTLR capabilities, aligned with AUKUS initiatives, with sustained trials planned following initial prototype evaluations. Project CETUS supports the development of an adaptable XLAUV testbed to demonstrate long endurance autonomous operations and various mission payloads. Location: Hybrid working – Abbey Wood, Bristol (3 days/week onsite). Rate: Up to £550/day (Inside IR35, via an umbrella company) Contract Duration: ASAP – 30/06/2026 (220 days) Application Deadline: 03/07/2025 at 09:00 Key Responsibilities: · Implement CETUS Software Integrity Policy for secure, cyber-assured designs. · Manage software-related safety hazards to ensure ALARP compliance. · Develop CETUS test plans for autonomous operations. · Establish data security for SCYLLA AUV equipment. · Handle SECRET payload/data securely during CETUS trials. · Liaise with regulators on autonomous systems guidance. · Provide general project assistance and support to the SDA Autonomy Unit team. Essential Experience & Skills: · Software and cyber analyst experience in product security and cyber assurance. · Ability to independently lead software and cyber tasks. · Active SC clearance (dual nationality acceptable subject to approval). Desirable Experience: · Experience in safety-critical software security. · Experience building trust in autonomous systems.
