Job Summary
This is a temporary contract ending 31-Mar-2027. The position will enable the Trust to provide investigations, including at an external site at West Swindon, with staff rotation into the department at the hospital.
Main Duties of the Job
* Work in close partnership with the Cardiac Physiology Service Managers, other cardiac physiologists, and lead clinicians on a day‑to‑day basis.
* Help develop and facilitate the implementation of standard operating procedures and guidelines within the department, supporting the delivery of an effective service.
* Regularly review and update these guidelines in line with current research, national and local guidelines.
* Remain current with best practice guidelines within cardiac physiology and work with Service Managers on service development.
* Maintain extensive knowledge and expertise in cardiac physiology.
* Depending on experience, undertake, interpret and report advanced cardiac diagnostic tests (e.g., cardiac ultrasound, cardiac rhythm management devices).
* Train, develop and assess junior staff, ensuring skill maintenance and service delivery requirements are met.

Job Description
* Actively participate in preparing, delivering, and evaluating information and/or educational resources for all levels of medical and nursing staff, aiming to improve the understanding of advantages and limitations of investigations and therapy.
* Participate in audit by implementing, monitoring and collating research and/or audit data as required by an agreed audit framework.
* Provide clinical supervision and training where appropriate.
* Act as a work‑based assessor for a specific area (or areas) of cardiac physiology.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* BSc Honours Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent.
* Demonstrate ongoing professional development and up‑to‑date clinical practice.
* Current post‑graduate professional qualification (current BSE accreditation and/or Cardiac Rhythm Management).
Desirable
* Ability to work independently in other areas of cardiac physiology (e.g., performing and reporting DSE, ESE, TOE, 3D echo, adult congenital heart disease scans).
* Teaching and assessor qualification.
* Second post‑graduate qualification.
* Adult BSE accreditation.
* Experience performing and reporting on echocardiograms and/or cardiac rhythm management; capabilities with other advanced cardiac diagnostic tests.
