Job Description The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Lincoln Memorial University invites applications for a fulltime Assistant Professor of Chemistry. The position serves the undergraduate program on the Harrogate, TN campus. LMU is nestled in the unique Cumberland Gap region where Tennessee meets Kentucky and Virginia. The university is dedicated to serving the Appalachia region with a student population representingthe diversity of the region and beyond. The candidate must have earned a PhD in Chemistry or appropriaterelated discipline. Primary teaching responsibilities may include lecture and lab sections for GeneralChemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II, and/or other courses based on interests, credentials, anddepartment needs. The faculty member will have the primary responsibility (~80% of time) of teaching.Courses serve a variety of students from chemistry majors to pre-health and pre-vet. Other responsibilitieswill be in scholarship and service in support of the University, College, and Department missions.Scholarship will be based on the faculty member’s area of interest and support undergraduate researchthrough mentorship. To ensure a smooth transition into our academic community, the successful candidatewill participate in LMU’s New Faculty Academy. Additionally, during their first year, the new facultymember will enjoy moderated scholarship and service expectations while receiving guidance and supportfrom a faculty mentor assigned by the department. Required Qualifications *earned PhD in Chemistry or appropriate related discipline; *educational preparation in accordance withrequirements of the University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and *evidence ofpotential for effective teaching and scholarly activity Preferred Qualifications *college-level teaching experience
