Overview
We are seeking a caring, compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our Older Persons Community Mental Health Team in Weymouth & Portland, currently without an OT role. The post will support the team in providing occupational therapy input in the community, offering assessment and treatment for complex service users, and developing and adding to care plans.
Key Responsibilities
 * Conduct clinical assessments to understand client needs, strengths and impact of mental and physical health.
 * Set shared goals for recovery and independence with clients.
 * Maintain physical and cognitive abilities through tailored assessments, activities and routines.
 * Recommend adaptations to home or community environments for safety and independence.
 * Introduce technology, equipment or assistive devices to support daily activities.
 * Create opportunities for social contact to reduce isolation.
 * Use creative and sensory approaches to improve mood, communication and social interaction, especially for dementia clients.
 * Collaborate with nurses, social workers, doctors and other professionals as a core member of the OP‑CMHT.
 * Act as Care Co‑ordinator in some cases and cover duty duties when required.
 * Manage own caseload and balance clinical and non‑clinical tasks.
 * Maintain appropriate DBS and other required checks.
Qualifications & Experience
 * Graduated with a Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
 * Registered with the Health Professions Council and actively engaged with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
 * Experience working with mentally ill clients during acute phases and with older adults in mental health settings.
 * Knowledge of ICPA, risk assessment, and the Mental Health Act 1983.
 * Experience with functional assessments and activity analysis.
 * Proficient in basic computer and IT skills.
 * Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements
 * Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English.
 * Ability to apply the occupational therapy process.
 * Ability to travel using your own vehicle on Trust business.
