Job Overview
Band 7 Occupational Therapy Team Lead - Surgery & Orthopaedics – a fixed‑term 12‑month secondment to cover maternity leave.

The post is suitable for an experienced OT with past leadership and service development experience, operating across elective and trauma orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, ENT and outpatient pre‑op hip and knee schools.
Main Duties of the Job
* Serve as the occupational therapist clinical expert in Orthopaedics & Surgery (Elective, Trauma, ENT, Urology & Gynaecology) for Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
* Responsible for operational management and clinical leadership of the occupational therapy team in conjunction with the Professional Lead.
* Provide specialist support and advice to the occupational therapy team and other healthcare staff, and manage own caseload of highly complex patients as an autonomous practitioner.
* Ensure a high quality and effective occupational therapy service.
* Participate in the Occupational Therapy Department Management team, contributing to planning and policy development within the multidisciplinary team.
* Deputise for the Professional Lead as required.
Person Specification
Experience
* Proven leadership experience.
* Experience at Band 6 or above in an relevant area of practice.
* Evidence of specialist clinical skills.
* Experience in performance management.
* Experience in managing/supervising staff and students.
Desirable
* Experience managing complex team issues.
* Band 7 level experience in a relevant area of practice.
Knowledge
* Highly specialist knowledge of OT in Orthopaedics and/or Surgery.
* Knowledge of current issues and policy relating to the field of practice.
* Registered OT with HCPC.
Desirable Knowledge
* Attendance at specialist courses relating to OT in Orthopaedics and/or Surgery.
* Completion of relevant QI projects.
* Evidence of CPD.
