Summary:
The Child Life Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing therapeutic programs that address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families. This includes assessing and supporting a child's understanding of healthcare experiences, providing emotional support, managing pain and anxiety, facilitating socialization, addressing developmental needs, understanding coping styles, and supporting family members including parents and siblings.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Child Life or a related field is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
2. License/Certifications: Certified Child Life Specialist from the Association of Child Life Professionals is required or must be obtained within one year of hire.
3. Experience: One year of Child Life experience is preferred.
4. Additional Skills/Requirements: Not applicable.
