Finance Manager East Lothian/East Edinburgh £55,000 – £60,000 Benefits Full-time | Office-based | 40 hours/week The Opportunity An established and respected engineering and manufacturing business in East Edinburgh is seeking a commercially focused Finance Manager to support strategic decision-making and drive financial performance. This is a hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director, with responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and reporting to shareholders and Non-Executive Directors. You’ll lead a small finance team and play a key role in shaping financial strategy, improving systems, and delivering insights that influence operational and commercial decisions. Key Responsibilities Lead monthly management accounts and performance reporting. Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. Monitor and control costs across the business. Provide financial input into contract costing and pricing. Establish and track KPIs aligned with business goals. Maintain financial policies and management information systems. Present financial performance at monthly board meetings. About You Essential: Proven experience in a senior finance role (e.g. Management Accountant, Finance Manager). Strong leadership and communication skills. Excellent analytical and reporting capabilities. Commercially aware with a proactive approach to cost control. Desirable: Experience in engineering, manufacturing, or project-based environments. Transferable skills from accountancy practice will also be considered Familiarity with contract costing and financial systems improvement.
