Neonatal Clinical Practice Educator

We are looking for an experienced Neonatal Clinical Practice Educator band 7 to join our team. If you would like to further develop your career in Neonatal Nursing, this is an ideal time to come and join us. There are extensive opportunities for progression, including complex deliveries, exposure to babies requiring ITU care, involvement in governance, quality improvement projects and research. You will have the opportunity to support students and qualified nurses undertaking their specialty courses, engage with a wide MDT to support families, promote family integrated care, and provide high quality care. You will maintain high standards of care, communicate with the MDT, check and administer drugs according to guidelines, and support and foster safe practice on the neonatal unit. You should ideally possess a recognised teaching qualification and demonstrate the ability for ongoing development.
Main duties of the job
1. To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse (or key worker) for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for: o ensuring provision of a high standard of holistic, patient-centred care; o assessing nursing care and health education needs; o development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
2. To be responsible for the organisation and management of the department, including the supervision of students, induction of new staff, introduction of equipment and training needs of the team.
3. To provide a clear focus for clinical leadership and to be responsible for ensuring the provision of a high standard of holistic, patient-centred care.
4. To be accountable for co-ordinating patient care, the management of resources and performance of staff.
5. To be responsible and accountable for Finance and Human Resources issues related to the department.
6. To be responsible for the implementation of Audit, Quality and Risk Management initiatives.
7. The post holder will play a key role in supporting newly qualified nurses coming into the specialty, promoting high standards of care through role modelling of expert clinical skills, leadership and professionalism.

8. To act as an assessor, teaching and supervising staff undertaking neonatal training, facilitating the creation of a positive learning environment where staff development is encouraged and supported.
Our NICU
Our NICU is the Level 3 unit for the North Central London area providing specialist intensive care for critically ill babies. We have links with an on-site fetal medicine unit which is a regional, national and international referral centre for fetal medicine, caring for more than 7,000 patients each year. The MDT offers individualised care for pregnant women and their families. We care for a wealth of experience in a busy tertiary level three neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with close links to other UCLH specialist hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital. We currently care for 21 intensive/high dependency care babies, 11 special care babies and 12 transitional care cots.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
* Supervisor and Assessor course
* BSc or working towards
* PG cert in health education or working towards
* NVQ assessor
Experience
* Relevant clinical experience at Band 6
* Relevant clinical experience at level 3 NNU care
Skills and Abilities

Salary: £58,133 to £65,261 per year inclusive of HCAS
