Chief Constables' Message

We really welcome your interest in joining our Police Force. It is a privilege to lead the teams in Surrey Police and Sussex Police who continuously work selflessly and tirelessly in order to keep people in our counties safe.
We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the needs of the public at the heart of everything that they do and who want to make a difference. If you feel you are that person then we want to hear from you.
We wish you all the very best with your application.
Chief Constable Tim De Meyer & Chief Constable Jo Shiner

The Role & Key Responsibilities

Do you have an enquiring mind and an attention to detail? Are you a lateral thinker, good at making connections between pieces of information and utilising computer systems and other media? Would you like to be involved in protecting vulnerable adults and children from harm? Our DBS team at Mount Browne is dedicated to checking and researching Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) applicants who wish to work with vulnerable groups.
Based within the Deputy Chief Constable’s Command at Surrey Police HQ, Mount Browne, Guildford, but with some agile working, you will be primarily responsible for performing DBS investigations on the Police National Computer (PNC), our local system NICHE and other systems to ensure that only suitable applicants are cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults.
This is an important safeguarding role. Hours are somewhat flexible but currently you should be available to work full-time within core office hours. The role is agile and after initial training can involve home working, subject to conditions.

Contact Mark Miller at olice.uk for further information.
Although this initially a fixed term contract, this is regularly reviewed for extension. For operational reasons, we are only able to offer this as a full-time post.

Please note that previous unsuccessful applicants for this role within the past 12 months will not be considered.

Skills & Experience

You will have accurate keyboard skills and be computer literate to a good standard with SharePoint and Windows 10 experience. You will have report-writing experience and be able to think laterally and make connections between various pieces of information from different sources. In addition, you will possess good written and verbal communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team. It is essential that candidates appreciate the confidentiality surrounding this role, especially in matters relating to personal data and other sensitive material. As this role requires a high level of training and commitment, you will be expected to remain within the unit for at least 20 months before being eligible to apply for posts elsewhere within the force.

Why Work With Us?

We are open to conversations about job shares and part time working. We encourage agile working, giving you the opportunity to manage your own diary and work wherever you give the best service to the public. This may include flexi-time and home working.
We take pride in looking after our people and offer a variety of benefits;
