Responsibilities
Administrator/Clinical Coder reporting to Practice Manager. Contracted hours up to 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday). The administrative element requires organisational and IT/data entry skills and attention to detail. The coding element reviews the clinical paperwork workflow (patient discharge summaries, consultant clinic letters, etc.). The purpose is to ensure GPs see only items they need to action, with the rest on the patient record appropriately coded. Training will be provided. The role involves reading hospital correspondence, data entry and coding, following a protocol to ensure safe and effective processes, and proactive follow-up where needed. You will develop a broad understanding of General Practice, medical terminology, coding, and the clinical coding process.
Key tasks include inputting patient information, converting diagnostic and procedural details into codes, entering coded information accurately, and reviewing letters to identify action points. You will work as part of a multi-professional team to support local APMS contracted work, including the Quality & Outcomes Framework. You will attend multidisciplinary meetings, engage in ongoing professional development, and adhere to Practice policies (Infection Control, Information Governance, Health & Safety, Manual Handling, and safeguarding guidelines).

Qualifications

Experience
