The Role

This role is a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The Purchasing Assistant will support the procurement function by assisting with the sourcing, ordering, and administration of goods and services, helping to ensure materials and supplies are purchased accurately, cost-effectively, and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist with raising and processing purchase orders
* Liaise with suppliers on pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
* Maintain accurate purchasing records and update procurement systems
* Track orders and follow up on delayed or outstanding deliveries
* Support supplier onboarding and maintain supplier information
* Assist with invoice matching and resolve discrepancies
* Support stock level monitoring and reordering processes
* Provide general administrative support to the purchasing team

Skills and Experience

Essential:

* Strong organisational and administrative skills
* High attention to detail
* Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
* Clear written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

* Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement environment in a manufacturing environment
* Familiarity with purchasing or ERP systems
* Basic understanding of procurement or finance processes

* Well organised and methodical
* Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* Proactive and keen to learn
* Works well as part of a team

Job Types: Temporary, Fixed term contract

Pay: From £14.25 per hour
