This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, balancing employee relations with hands‑on HR support. With the seasonal nature of the business, there are natural peaks with casework volumes, giving you the chance to take initiative, identify priorities, and get involved in exciting HR projects, process improvements and supporting the wider team. You’ll also contribute to key initiatives, including the implementation of a new HR system in 2026, making a real impact across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a wide range of Employee Relations casework, including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, welfare matters, sickness absence management, probation reviews, maternity & paternity cases.
* Support with the day‑to‑day management of the HR Inbox, providing timely and professional responses.
* Deliver accurate and efficient HR administration, including processing starters, leavers, and employee changes. Issuing contracts, letters, and documentation when required.
* Provide support to the HR & Recruitment Manager, being flexible to adapt to wherever support may be required across the HR & Recruitment function.
* Contribute to wider HR initiatives such as Annual Performance Reviews and management training programmes.
* Support the implementation and rollout of a new HR system in 2026, including data handling and process improvements.
* Provide support across both our Holgate HQ and Clifton Moor site, particularly during seasonal peak periods.
* Willing to provide remote HR support to international hubs as and when required – specifically Ireland.
About You
* Proven experience in an HR Advisor role or similar.
* Confident managing Employee Relations casework independently.
* Ideally CIPD Level 5 qualified (or equivalent work experience), or keen to continue developing your HR career.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel) and experienced in using HR systems.
* Comfortable supporting system implementation projects, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
* An excellent communicator with a collaborative approach, confident working with people at all levels.
* Professional, friendly, and approachable, with the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and empathy.
* Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* A self‑starter with a can‑do attitude and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
* Able to demonstrate sound judgement, strong administrative skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* A team player who leads by example, consistently reflecting our values through actions and attitude.
* Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to support wider HR and business needs.
Additional Information
* This role is based at Holgate HQ, York, with flexibility required to support our Clifton Moor site as needed.
* Due to the seasonal nature of the business, holiday may be restricted during peak periods (October–December and March/April).
* This role is for 30 hours a week, to be worked across core hours Monday‑Friday.
* The salary banding for this role is £32-35k FTE dependant on experience. This will be pro‑rated for 30 hours, so actual salary will be £24,303 - £26,582.
