This is a limited opportunity to:
 * Visit Unpaid Work sites to understand what it is like working in the Community Payback Team.
 * Meet some of our team and learn what they say about their work.
 * Meet our assessors who will test your abilities, behaviours and strengths for the role.
Complete your online application by 13th November 2025. If successful, you will be invited to an assessment day on 07th December 2025. The assessment day is expected to run from 09:00 to 16:30 and will include an onsite experience in the morning and interviews in the afternoon.
Details of the exact day, start time and items to bring will be shared after you complete the online stage. The day includes a face-to-face interview to assess behaviours and strengths, and your spoken English abilities will also be assessed.
You will be advised of the outcome on the same day. If offered and accepted, the vetting process will commence and can take up to 12 weeks.
Responsibilities
The Community Payback Supervisor role involves physical work supervising varied projects that provide a visible reparation to the community. You will:
 * Exercise appropriate authority to maintain discipline and good behaviour within working groups, and alert relevant staff to any infringement.
 * Work flexible hours, including potential weekend duties, with start times Monday to Friday and some duty calls on weekends.
 * Work alongside volunteers or staff from partner organisations as required.
 * Possibly drive service vehicles to transport people or equipment.
A permanent manual driving licence is required for this role. Please note: Candidates must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence when applying for this role; an automatic licence cannot be accepted.
Qualifications and Requirements
 * Acknowledge and demonstrate the motivations and energies that drive you; your natural strengths will be assessed during the process.
 * Evidence of spoken English abilities.
 * Willingness to work on weekends as part of the normal pattern of working.
 * A flexible approach to start times and working locations.
The Probation Service offers opportunities for annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework (CBF). New entrants are expected to join at the minimum of the pay band, which may increase with annual adjustments in line with Civil Service Pay guidance.
The role is an operational position supervising offenders serving a community sentence and may include driving service vehicles. The post holder will be responsible for all on-site supervision tasks and will demonstrate good practice while working with service users to complete tasks to a high standard.
