An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Regulatory Lawyer to join the UK Corporate & Institutional Banking legal team of a leading international financial institution. This role can be based in Glasgow or London, with a preference for Glasgow, and offers the chance to work at the heart of a dynamic, global business.
The Role
You will join a specialist Legal Regulatory team providing high-quality, non-contentious financial services regulatory advice across a broad range of business lines. The team plays a key role in supporting strategic initiatives, new product development, and ongoing business activities from a regulatory perspective.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Advising on complex, non-contentious UK and European financial services regulatory matters
* Supporting regulatory implementation projects from early-stage analysis through to execution
* Advising on the UK regulated perimeter and new business activities
* Reviewing and contributing to Transaction Approval Committees (TACs) and New Activity Committees (NACs)
* Drafting and updating documentation to reflect regulatory requirements (e.g. terms of business, onboarding materials)
* Contributing to regulatory watch processes, including impact assessments and horizon scanning
* Providing clear, commercially focused advice to business stakeholders and senior management
* Delivering training on key regulatory topics and contributing to internal “know-how” resources
* Managing relationships with internal stakeholders and external counsel where required
* Supporting and mentoring junior team members
This is a highly visible role with significant interaction across legal, compliance, and front-office teams.
About You
* Qualified lawyer in England & Wales (or equivalent) with strong experience in non-contentious financial services regulatory law
* In-depth knowledge of key UK and European regulations (e.g. MiFID II, EMIR, PSD2, SFTR, FSMA, FCA/PRA Handbook, and ESG-related regulation)
* Experience advising on regulatory change and implementation projects within a financial institution or leading law firm
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex regulatory frameworks into practical business advice
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* A collaborative approach, with experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues
