Summary

**Important notice**

In line with our redeployment policy, we’ll prioritise applications from employees who are under formal notice of redundancy

As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people.

Salary: £26,793 per annum

Contract: 12 months Fixed Term Contract. This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months.

Hours/ working pattern: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings, and be on call. You'll be working five days a week, with occasional weekend or bank holiday working.

The post-holder will be based at Filcombe Farm Morcombelake but the role will involve travel and working between multiple locations. The role will often involve walking for long distances over undulating terrain and moving and carrying heavy loads such as fence posts, gates, tools and equipment.

A full driving licence is essential. The role will often involve walking for long distances over undulating terrain and moving and carrying heavy loads such as fence posts, gates, tools and equipment.

What it's like to work here

This is an exciting time to join the West Dorset & Cranborne Chase Team. We’re a Restore Nature priority, with big ambitions to support nature recovery at scale across Dorset & South Wiltshire. The role of Ranger will work with the Lead Ranger & Area Rangers to deliver nature conservation, access and visitor experience work. Based at the Golden Cap office, this maternity cover role will help support work across multiple sites in West Dorset, with the opportunity to get involved all across the portfolio.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.

You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.

Please also read the full role profile, attached to this advert.
