Assist in performing assigned duties and tasks, including working as part of a team responsible for the efficient, effective, and economic delivery of a community safety neighbourhood service. This includes regular enforcement operations to prevent and reduce antisocial behaviour, on-street drinking, and environmental crime.
Hours: 37 hours per week
About the Role
We are seeking a Safer Neighbourhood Officer responsible to the appropriate line manager for assisting in enforcing relevant legislation to reduce incidents of antisocial behaviour, on-street drinking, and environmental crime.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct regular walkabouts or patrols in agreed locations to identify problems and enforce relevant bye-laws or legislation relating to antisocial behaviour. This includes, but is not limited to:
* Graffiti
* Undertake duties supporting community safety objectives on behalf of the council and the (D)PCSP
* Collaborate with local representatives and partner organizations to identify solutions to community safety issues
* Support existing multi-agency structures such as DPCSPs, ASB Fora, local community safety groups, PACT, Tension Monitoring, Youth Engagement Projects, etc., and attend meetings as necessary
* Work closely with elected representatives to resolve local environmental and antisocial behaviour problems
* Manage initial scene or incident response in line with protocols
Applicant Requirements
By the application deadline, applicants must:
* Hold at least five GCSEs (grades A–C) including English or equivalent qualifications
* Demonstrate, through specific examples on the application form, at least one year's relevant experience in each of the following areas:
* (a) Dealing with the public in enforcement or legislative roles (e.g., litter enforcement, dog control, alcohol enforcement)
* (b) Administrative work involving report writing and record keeping
