Our Civils contractor client is seeking a site based Project Manager to support delivery of a major reservoir project based in Havant on a permanent basis.
Our client are part of a joint venture delivering the Havant Thicket Reservoir on behalf of Portsmouth Water. The project is divided into 2 with our client supporting the main earthworks/reservoir build and others supporting on pipelines.
The project is due to run until 2032 and needs a Project Manager to support delivery in a site based position.
Responsibilities
Update contract programme weekly with project planner, highlighting delays and potential claims to commercial team. Integrate subcontractor work.
Plan upcoming work, procure subcontractors, and place orders for long lead in materials
Chair weekly site meetings to ensure your site team, (Site Manager/Foreman, Site Engineer) understand what is to be done by when & what can be improved upon & learned from.
Monitor and report on financial performance. Highlight commercial risks, and develop solutions to maximize profit.
Raise Early Warnings, and attend risk reduction meetings.
Assist the commercial team to produce compensation events.
Use information provided by your site engineer to communicate technical queries and resolve design issues in a timely manner.
Produce project management documents including Construction Phase Plan, Waste Management Plan & contributing to the Materials Management Plan. Methods, risk assessments'.
Compliance with environmental mitigation measures and controls.
Compile information to be included into the Health & Safety file.
Compliance with company procedures & ensure sites are producing their plant and material returns to the office as required
Local recruitment of necessary labour resources
Managing your team & delegating suitable responsibilities to team members.
Sharing knowledge & training as required. Promote effective inter-team working across all functional departments i.e. Commercial, Finance, Plant, Procurement, Technical & Estimating.
Monitor the morale & motivation of the team. Communicate the company objectives & maintain regular information sharing relevant to the team.
Promote a culture of openness and honesty.
Maintain regular 1-2-1's with your reporting staff discussing & agreeing personal objectives, learning needs & goals
Monitor performance standards & manage expectations.
Provide information for Monthly report
Build trusted relationships with clients and explore opportunities for future works
Skills/experience/qualifications
Ideally civils background
Examples of managing high value complex projects
Earthworks/Water/Highways backgrounds all considered
