Overview
Water Meadow View is a new mental health inpatient unit for adults who have learning disabilities, which is due to open in late winter 2025 on our site in Whittingham, Preston. The post is to support the Multi-Disciplinary Team to deliver outstanding person centred care. The post holder will provide a high standard of specialist Occupational Therapy input into a learning disability inpatient service as an autonomous practitioner.
Responsibilities
* Gather information, assess, provide interventions and evaluate effectiveness with individuals and in group settings, drawing from relevant evidence bases, frames of reference and models for practice.
* Demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills relating to the effects of learning disability on occupational performance.
* Enable people to engage in their chosen occupations while helping to break down barriers to participation.
* Act as a senior clinical resource with knowledge of learning disabilities and consult with the team to help occupational formulation.
* Work with the person, their family members, carers/support teams and other professionals involved in the person’s support.
* Balance provision of specialist occupational therapy with shared roles to contribute to the efficient functioning of the team.
* Mentor and supervise junior occupational therapy staff as required, provide regular fieldwork opportunities for occupational therapy students, and contribute to the learning of other team members or students from other disciplines.
* Hold responsibility for own caseload and work efficiently within the inpatient service and across the learning disability community services to support successful transitions back into the community.
* Deliver person centred, compassionate care in a purpose-built, co-produced environment with opportunities to learn and develop throughout your career.
